about

Two years ago we locked down. Guitars and early morning scribbles on parchment made sense of things. My friend Ed and I then played catch with a song, tossing files back and forth through the cloud over the 20 city blocks that separated us. The track, Songs of Life, was birthed and nudged from the nest into the digital world.
Two years later we cautiously meet in his living room with guitars and microphones and shape this new song into being - a bookend as it were to this odd chapter in our lives. Enjoy.

lyrics

Carry On Winter 2021

Well, here we are in the woods again

Vireo calls then disappears into the underbrush

I’ve followed you here, only separated by the years

While the ties that bind draw me deep into the trees

As I recall, among all these poplars a lonely pine

And at its feet, lies the skeleton of a horse

And all about, among the needles and the wood decay

Wild strawberries abound, I have my fill and carry on

I hit save on your memory, you visited her grave

I’d trade you places, take my viewing in the shade

In the end there was a slideshow, log on click to begin

Please find a way to contribute, submit, give a little

Wave to this legacy, this life passed on

To an unknown tomorrow, nothing left but this song

Well, here we are in the trundled night

Or is it the early morn, emerging charcoal shapes decide

The wind has taken over the yard and all that sways

Is compelled to dance, shadows bound to phantom leads

Memory takes my hand and I begin to move

Now I’m dancing in the past, just waiting for the light

In the end someday a gathering

Mainly to review the past

Tip out the last drops of joy from the glass

As we chuckle and reminisce

Wrinkle a brow to recall

Then tuck it all back in self storage

I pack, you haul

Out front my motorcycle

I know no matter what card is drawn

Sun will shoot the horizon

We’ll start up, I’ll carry on

I keep a copy of the program

In the pocket of my suit

If you ever need to read a eulogy

I’ve got you covered grief in lieu
